Sandra has a home in the desert country of Eastern Oregon and travels much of the west, gathering the reference photos of animals, birds and landscapes that she uses in her works of art in Scratchboard, Oils and Graphite Pencil.

The rest of the time is spent in the studio creating or traveling to attend shows. She is a published author and has written several Scratchboard instructional books and stories about her adventures as an artist.

Sandra grew up with animals always around her and wandered the woods in old-growth timber on the west side of Oregon. The people that surrounded her through the years were wise in the ways of the habitat and behavior of the native animal species, and how to survive in the wilderness. All were generous with their life-time knowledge and were happy to teach everything to an artist that just wanted to run wild with animals.

Recent juried shows include the Nancy McLaughlin Award for Excellence in Diversity at the Oldfield Show in Puyallup, Washington, along with Best of Show, Mixed Media Miniatures, at the same show.

She was also juried Best of Show, Drawn Media several times and Artists Choice in the Western Heritage Show in Great Falls, Montana and is a juried Signature member of the International Society of Scratchboard Artists.
